Wellington Art Club Newsletter January- February 2011
HAPPY NEW YEAR
The holiday season has been and gone. Hope everyone had a wonderful time with family and friends. But it is time to get back to work. If you have been able to get outdoors to do some plein air drawing or painting, in a sheltered spot out of the wind, great. We look forward to seeing some of the new work. The February 6th meeting will be a critique day.
Bring all that new work for some friendly discussion at 2 pm. See you all there!
COME ONE COME ALL TO THE AGM
NOTICE OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING SUNDAY 7TH MARCH at 2pm in the clubrooms
Do you have something you would like to discuss?
Would you like to volunteer to be on the committee?
There are vacancies that need to be filled: A secretary is needed to take minutes of committee meetings and deal with the few bits of mail that come. The occasional letter might need to be written. Not a difficult job, but having a computer is desirable.
The newsletter editor is retiring, so if anyone would like to assume this role, please come forward. Many members contribute items and the editor puts them together. Again, a computer is desirable.
PENINSULA WIDE ART TRAIL 26th and 27th MARCH THIS YEAR
Several Miramar peninsular club members are opening their homes/studios for this event. The clubrooms will be included on the trail map so club members who live elsewhere can exhibit. For them it will be the same as our autumn exhibition but hopefully, if publicized well, we will gain better attendance and sales. The club should benefit from the extra exposure. There will be a charge for tickets to the trail and the hospice will be a recipient of funds from ticket sales. Club members will be asked to sell tickets. Club members will
be able to go to the various studios, but there will need to be the usual roster of volunteers to man the clubrooms exhibition.
The 2010 xmas party once again was a great success. The clubrooms decorations were bright and colourful, the tables set up with our xmas table cloths and everyone contributed to a lovely supper and a glass of wine. It was a lovely sight to see members happily chatting with each other – a nice way to end the year.
Chris Anderson – solo band – razzled and dazzled us all evening with live music and singing by Lucretia. Members that lasted the evening got up to dance and a wonderful lively night was had. Chris’ contribution in time and effort was much appreciated.
ACRYLIC WORKSHOP WITH ELLEN COUP
Ellen spoke at a Sunday meeting last year describing some of her murals around town. She is an accomplished artist in many fields and has been involved in teaching in Wellington schools. 16 & 17 April Details nearer time on notice board in the clubrooms.
CRITIQUE SUNDAY 6TH FEBRUARY 2PM
Bring all your work that you would like to have critiqued and take part in a friendly discussion.
