Well, its now the end of a long busy year and I must give you some important dates:
Last date for LIFE DRAWING - Monday December 10, reopening on January 14 at 7pm.
Last date for DAY SESSIONS is December 21, reopening on Tuesday, January 8.
Rita Quirk won the People's Choice Award with her lovely acrylic entitled SPRING BEAUTY
Whilst we had a successful Rita Angus Exhibition with just under $2000 profit some members mentioned the lack of advertising might have resulted in poorer sales. I assure you the only thing left out this year was the distribution of extra posters as Rita Angus weren’t able to get them to us in time, however posters were still given out in the Dominion Post. Newstalk ZB advertised us extensively and we had more advertising on Facebook, Instagram and the website this year.
We also had more attendees at the opening night than November 2017. Our profits were considerably boosted by the entry fees, raffle (won by Eric Dyne) and the sale of Prue’s lovely calendars.
Roger Buchanan should also be thanked for the nice article about the exhibition and the Club, that he had published in the Cook St News.
Sales at art exhibitions are notoriously fickle and the fact that we attracted 18 new members this year (far more than we lost) is just as important as sales figures, because it shows that the club is progressing forward.
The committee and I wish you all ... A MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
