A FEW WORDS FROM THE PRESIDENT...
A FEW WORDS FROM THE PRESIDENT...
Just a few words to welcome everyone to the new year and let you know that the AGM will be on April the 5thfrom 2pm, the first Sunday of April as per usual.
At this stage there will be two changes to the committee; Sue and I are both stepping down as I have done my three years and Sue quite a bit more! I thank Sue for all her loyalty, hard work and support.
If any forward thinking enthusiastic person is interested in joining the committee please fill in a nomination form and get a member to second you. You may become vice president or even president one day! Like most clubs, you really do need to be on the committee for a year, to learn the ropes before you can become president. We meet once a month and the meetings last between an hour and an hour and a half. Doing something positive for your club, apart from painting, can be very rewarding.
Now, on another subject, it has come to the committee’s notice that a few people are using the club to offload unwanted works of art and art materials. While the sentiment is appreciated, the committee has gone to a lot of trouble to dispose of the clutter of pre-loved art that had been mounting up in the office over the years (fortunately Miramar’s charity shops welcomed it with open arms). The committee therefore, has decided that if anyone wants to ‘donate’ anything to the club it is that person’s responsibility to remove anything that hasn’t been taken up by another member within three weeks.
The Malvina Major exhibition will be on the 26th, 27thand 28thof June this year so that will be the next big thing after the AGM. I will stay on the committee as Immediate Past President till then.
I’ll probably continue doing this newsletter using our on-line “Mail Chimp” software, which simplifies placing it on the club’s website.
Thanks – see you at the AGM,
