Shirley Sutton Workshop

Saturday the 28th of June was a great opportunity to learn Shirley’s technique for applying oils or acrylics using a pallet knife and a brush. Shirley instructed us very clearly and demonstrated all the stages of painting on her own canvas as the day progressed and we would then attempt to produce the same result on our own canvases.

I’ve always enjoyed creating pictures with a pallet knife as the process usually results in a picture that I’m reasonably happy with, and that day was no exception. At lunch break we all enjoyed hearing about Shirley’s many adventures while travelling in Europe.

We worked hard and at the end of the day quite a few commented on feeling a bit tired, but I think we all enjoyed the day and most went home with completed work.
